Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to provide technical expertise across renewable energy projects, shaping foundations for wind, PV, and grid-scale storage from development through operations.

The role requires deep knowledge of geotechnical engineering, soil mechanics, and foundation design, with at least 6 years of progressive experience on large projects. Office-based with up to 25% travel and potential hybrid arrangements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering required.
• Minimum 6 years' experience in geotechnical design, analysis, and construction support.
• 2+ years' experience with PV solar, wind, battery storage, and HV facility design.
• Field experience on large civil/geotechnical projects with QA/QC and construction oversight.

Responsibilities

• Identify geotechnical risks during early development and provide design/cost recommendations.
• Prepare initial cost estimates for geotechnical investigations and select consultants.
• Review geotechnical reports for technical accuracy and project compliance.
• Support design packages for turbines, solar trackers, energy storage, and related infrastructure.
• Mentor staff on new geotechnical technologies and safety practices.
