A leading engineering firm is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to manage geotechnical investigations and analyses for tunneling projects. The successful candidate will lead design compliance, coordinate support systems, and supervise junior staff, ensuring all operations meet regulatory requirements. The ideal applicant has extensive experience in MRT tunneling projects and excellent communication skills.
Job Descriptions of Senior Geotechnical Engineer
· Together with your team, conduct geotechnical investigations and interpret soil/rock data for tunneling projects
. Understand stability analyses, settlement assessments, and ground movement predictions.
. Coordinate tunnel support systems, including shotcrete, segmental linings, ground improvement, and reinforcement.
. Evaluate risks related to soft ground, rock tunneling, and mixed-face conditions.
. Review instrumentation and monitoring plans (e.g., inclinometers, piezometers, settlement markers).
. In charge of Geotechnical Interpretation Report preparation
. Ensure designs comply with Singapore Standards (SS), BCA, LTA, PUB, and other regulatory requirements.
. Follow Eurocode 7 (Geotechnical Design) and other relevant international codes.
. Lead geotechnical aspects of tunneling projects from feasibility to construction.
. Liaise with contractors, clients (e.g., LTA, )and government agencies.
. Review contractor submissions (method statements, instrumentation data, risk assessments).
. Identify geotechnical risks (e.g., sinkholes, water ingress, face instability).
. Provide mitigation measures and troubleshooting during construction.
. Supervise junior engineers and geotechnical staffs
. Collaborate with structural engineers, geologists, and surveyors.
. Experienced with LTA projects (e.g., MRT tunnels, Cross Island Line)
. Familiar with Jurong rock formation
. Strong communication, report writing and stakeholder management
Skills :
- Minimum 8 years of geotechnical engineering experience with degree in civil engineering recognized by the PE Board or qualification acceptable to the Commissioner of Building Control
- Eligible for application as Resident Engineer
- Minimum 5 years experience in the design and construction supervision of geotechnical work for MRT tunnelling projects
