Job summary

Blackburn Consulting is seeking a full-time Senior Engineer in California to lead moderate to complex geotechnical and engineering projects. The role involves travel (<20%), coordination with the Sausalito Office Manager, and writing technical reports. Candidates should have 6–8 years of project-based experience in geotechnical engineering and a PE license.

We serve public works and related fields with offices in multiple CA locations; strong communication and field leadership are essential. Travel and report-writing are required.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer license (PE)
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or geology; Master’s preferred
• 6-10 years of relevant experience
• Experience with public agencies preferred
• Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle
• Computer savvy (Windows based systems)

Responsibilities

• Lead moderate to complex projects with independent judgment.
• Coordinate field work and data assembly with staff engineers/geologists.
• Oversee construction projects and provide field direction.
• Review field reports and supervise field technicians.
• Prepare work and safety plans and job safety analyses.
• Conduct geotechnical reports and technical writing.
• Engage with clients and manage project scopes.
