Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a geotechnical/civil engineer to design excavation, foundations, dams and geo-environmental projects with oversight responsibilities. You will review plans for regulatory compliance and contribute to technical design documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining or Geologic Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• With general direction, creates excavation, dewatering, shallow/deep foundations, dams/reservoirs/levees, geo-environmental projects, etc.
• Engineering designs of basic to high complexity to meet client project requirements.
• Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and signs off on completed designs.
• Performs site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications.
• Performs soil sampling analyses and modeling.
• Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs).
• Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm.
