Job summary

Schnabel Engineering is opening a Harrisburg, PA office and seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead and support a broad range of geotechnical and interdisciplinary infrastructure projects across transportation, energy, water, and federal sectors. The role offers ownership through our ESOP and opportunities to mentor a growing team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant professional geotechnical engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Geological Engineering (Master’s Degree is a plus).
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain license within 6 months.
• Extensive geotechnical background and soil/rock mechanics knowledge.
• Experience with transportation, power/energy, water/wastewater foundation and investigations preferred.
• Knowledge of design codes including IBC and AASHTO.
• Willingness to travel overnight and out of town.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and provide technical support within a team of geotechnical professionals.
• Oversee exploration, design, and construction phases of geotechnical projects.
• Plan, perform, and supervise subsurface exploration and testing programs.
• Mentor junior engineers and support business development activities.
• Develop geotechnical design drawings and specifications; review field logs and reports.
• Perform construction observation of geotechnical works and foundation construction.
• Collaborate with offices regionally and nationally to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget.
