Job summary

Ayres Associates Inc. seeks a senior geotechnical/geological engineer to lead dam rehabilitation and analysis projects under FERC.

You will drive technical work including saturated/unsaturated slope stability, seepage, settlement, and liquefaction screening, while mentoring staff and pursuing new business opportunities. The role requires PE licensure, 10+ years of geotechnical/geological experience, and a track record with FERC projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in civil engineering with geotechnical/geological emphasis.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in a US state.
  • 10+ years of geotechnical/geological engineering experience.
  • Experience with FERC dam projects desirable.
  • Ability to manage projects with budgets of 250 to 2000 engineering hours.
  • Knowledge of FERC, USACE, Bureau of Reclamation standards.
  • Proficiency with slope stability/seepage modeling tools.
  • Experience in field exploration and laboratory testing.
  • Strong communication and client-relations skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identify marketing opportunities and win projects from utilities with FERC licenses.
  • Manage projects, oversee design and production of plans and specifications.
  • Ensure work is produced on schedule, profitably, and to Ayres' quality standards.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Project Managers and leaders.
  • Support and mentor staff, and participate in professional organizations.
