Kleinfelder's is seeking Senior Professional Level Geotechnical or Geological Engineers to join our Denver/Golden, Colorado office!

Our geotechnical engineering team works on challenging and interesting projects as part of a larger engineering team that includes structural and civil engineers, environmental professionals, and laboratory and construction oversight personnel. We work on a large variety of both public and private infrastructure projects ranging from solar power generation facilities, electric transmission lines, renewable natural gas plants, transit systems, roadways, water and storm water systems, dams, trenchless utility crossings, commercial buildings, deep excavations, and more, all while managing complexities of dense urban sites, remote sites throughout the US, or difficult mountainous terrain in Colorado.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil, geotechnical, or geological engineering with more than 10 years of related geotechnical consulting experience and a PE license in Colorado or the ability to obtain within 6 months. A master’s degree in civil (geotechnical) engineering or geological engineering is strongly preferred.

The successful candidate will have direct experience with a variety of geotechnical subsurface exploration techniques, construction observations and materials testing (preferred), laboratory testing, geotechnical engineering analyses, technical writing, and other technical support under direct supervision assisting senior operations and technical staff. This role is a hybrid, work from home and work in office, opportunity with weekly office attendance required in a team setting. Some travel to project sites may be required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Proposal development
  • Development of subsurface exploration and laboratory testing programs
  • Remote oversight of early career professionals during subsurface explorations
  • Geotechnical engineering analyses including but not limited to evaluation of subsurface conditions and their geotechnical engineering properties, deep foundation axial capacities and lateral deformation, shallow foundation capacities and potential settlement/heave, global stability, geotechnical seismic analyses, retaining wall design, pavement design, seepage analysis, etc.
  • Geotechnical report writing, plans preparation, and technical specification development.
  • Mentoring junior staff.
  • Task management with some to full project management, depending on the candidate’s experience.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil (geotechnical) or geological engineering; master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of consulting experience in the geotechnical field.
  • Colorado PE or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Experience with proposal writing, scope, budgeting, and scheduling
  • Experience executing geotechnical field investigations
  • Experience with local geologic conditions as well as national geology and geologic hazards
  • Proficiency in software including Slope/W or SLIDE, SHAFT, LPILE, APILE, Settle3
  • Experience with geotechnical engineering analyses without the use of geotechnical software.
  • Experience with and strong abilities in technical writing of geotechnical investigation reports
  • Working well in a team environment
  • Valid driver’s license.

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range $98,000-$143,000. We will be accepting applications through October 1, 2024 (90 days since posting date).
