Job summary

UT-Battelle operates ORNL and is seeking a Software Engineer to lead and contribute to geospatial software projects for high-volume data processing and real-time analytics. You will collaborate with researchers and sponsors to implement innovative solutions on distributed systems and modern software stacks.

The role emphasizes leadership, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and implementing scalable geospatial services in an environment that values integrity and teamwork.

Qualifications

BS/ MS or PhD in engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics or related field with substantial experience.
Proficient in Java, Python, C++ and frontend frameworks (Angular, React, Vue).
Experience leading development teams as technical lead or scrum master.
Experience with spatial databases (PostgreSQL with PostGIS) or NoSQL data stores and data APIs.

Responsibilities

Develop software for spatial computing, real-time data platforms, and machine intelligence systems.
Lead and contribute to diverse developer teams and research projects.
Develop geospatial software and map layers as services.
Translate project requirements into implemented services and software.
