SynMax, Inc. in Houston seeks a Senior Geospatial Data Scientist to join Theia's data science team and translate satellite imagery and AIS data into a verified picture of maritime activity. You will take work from prototype through production on GCP, collaborating with software engineers to deploy scalable pipelines.

You'll apply geospatial analysis, computer vision on EO/SAR data, and communicate complex model behavior clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders across client projects.

Qualifications

• Strong geospatial data science background with spatial data, coordinate systems, and geospatial analysis techniques.
• Experience with earth observation data (EO or SAR).
• Some computer vision experience (object detection/classification on imagery).
• Strong Python skills and ML lifecycle experience: predictive modeling, classification, evaluation, and iteration.

Responsabilités

• Develop and improve geospatial models and pipelines that fuse AIS with imagery to detect vessel behavior and anomalies.
• Apply computer vision techniques to satellite imagery for detection and attribution.
• Work with large-scale geospatial and time-series datasets to build and validate models.
• Take models from prototype through to production with deployment on GCP.
• Investigate new data sources to improve maritime domain awareness.
• Communicate findings and model behavior clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Theia data science and engineering teams on shared infrastructure and tooling.
