Job summary

SynMax, Inc. in Washington, DC seeks a Senior Geospatial Data Scientist to fuse satellite imagery with AIS data, build detection and prediction models, and deploy them on GCP.

You will work across the data science team to turn prototypes into scalable production pipelines and clearly explain model reasoning to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Qualifications

• Strong background in geospatial data science and spatial analysis.
• Experience with earth observation data (EO/SAR).
• Proficiency in Python and ML lifecycle (modeling, evaluation, iteration).
• Ability to work independently and explain reasoning clearly.
• Experience with large-scale geospatial datasets and pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve geospatial models and pipelines fusing AIS with imagery.
• Apply computer vision techniques to satellite imagery for detection and attribution.
• Work with large-scale AIS tracks, imagery, and metadata to validate models.
• Take models from prototype to production, deploying on GCP with engineering.
• Explore new data sources to close gaps in maritime domain awareness.
• Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with data science and engineering teams on infrastructure.
