Job summary

BP is seeking a Lead Geoscientist for the Eagle Ford Development team within bp Energy. The role supports a multi‑rig development program and shapes subsurface plans, priorities, and workflows across the asset.

Ideal candidates bring at least 15 years of geoscience experience, including unconventional development, planning, and integrated reservoir understanding, with strong commercial acumen and leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• Master or equivalent in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Science, or related field.
• 15+ years in unconventional reservoir development, planning and subsurface characterization.
• Ability to resolve complex subsurface issues through integrated data.
• Proven independent contributor with project leadership experience.
• Commercial acumen to balance technical risk and asset value.

Responsibilities

• Lead development planning for a multi-rig program and guide subsurface workflows.
• Provide technical leadership for subsurface mapping, portfolio prioritization, and uncertainty integration.
• Develop surveillance plans, cost-efficient data acquisition, and interpretation workflows to de-risk plans.
• Own and coordinate complex geologic evaluations with defendable recommendations.
• Mentor geoscientists and build cross-disciplinary networks for integrated outcomes.
• Communicate findings and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders and leaders.
