Job summary

ASARCO LLC seeks a Senior Geologist at its Sahuarita, AZ location to model the Silver Bell orebody using Leapfrog Geo and/or MineSight, and to lead data management and QA/QC programs. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology/Geosciences or related field and 8+ years in geology-related roles.
• Experience with 3D geomodelling software (MineSight 3D or Leapfrog) to model orebody geometry.
• Experience with geological data management using ioGAS and acQuire (GIM Suite).
• Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and GIS concepts.

• Plan and supervise drilling and sampling programs; supervise mapping and grade control activities.

Job description

ASARCO LLC seeks a Senior Geologist for its Sahuarita, AZ location to model the Silver Bell orebody in Leapfrog Geo and/or Hexagon MineSight software, including participation in block model development, validation, and updates. Interpret and integrate lithological, geochemical, structural, and mineral processing data from drilling, mapping, and plant operations. Update and maintenance of the Torque, Leapfrog, and AcQuire databases. Supervise the conversion of legacy data to digital formats. Provide technical leadership and support to mine geologists in the field and office, including training and mentoring. Ensure technical excellence through sample auditing and QA/QC program implementation and reporting. Plan and supervise drilling projects and sampling programs. Manage and assist with mapping, logging, and grade control activities. Assist in the supervision, administration, and technical oversight of all geological work performed at the mine as required. Perform the assigned duties for Engineers and Geologists as described in the ASARCO Total Safety Culture Program.

Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geosciences, Economic Geology, or related field and 8 years of experience in the job offered or in a Geologist-related occupation.

Position requires experience in the following:

• 3D Geomodelling software including MineSight 3D or Leapfrog to model orebody geometry and continuity.
• Geological data management and interpretation using ioGAS and acQuire (GIM Suite).
• Geographic Information Systems including ArcGIS and ArcGis Pro.
• Identifying porphyry copper deposits and alteration assemblages including potassic, phyllic, propylitic, and argillic assemblages.
• Reserve calculation and estimation.
• Various and unanticipated worksites throughout the U.S.
