Job summary

The Queen's Health Systems in Hawaii seeks a Genetic Counselor to provide counseling and referral services for individuals and families at risk for or diagnosed with a genetic disorder. You will promote high quality standards of care and provide consultation and education to healthcare providers and clients.

You will also act as a facilitator for molecular and cytogenetic testing and apply problem-solving skills grounded in theory and clinical experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in genetic counseling from an accredited program.
• Board eligible for certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics or the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
• Certification as a Genetic Counselor must be obtained within three (3) years of entrance into the position.
• Current BLS/HCP certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides genetic counseling and referral services for individuals and families at risk for or diagnosed with a genetic disorder.
• Promotes high quality standards of care for clients.
• Provides consultation and education services for health care providers and clients.
• Acts as a facilitator regarding molecular and cytogenetic testing.
• Demonstrates problem-solving skills based on theoretical knowledge and clinical experience.

Education
