Job summary

CACI is seeking a Senior Generator Technician to join our team supporting the U.S. Army in Springfield, VA (Fort Belvoir area).

The role involves maintenance and repairs of a wide range of power generators and related equipment, with travel up to 50% across CONUS and OCONUS locations. Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with power generation certification or 12 years of military/civilian equivalent experience.
  • Technical understanding of power generation operations and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of documenting and reporting; safe work practices and PPE.
  • Knowledge of lockout/tag out procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively; US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, load bank, field diagnosis and repairs on generators and transfer switches in CONUS/OCONUS positions.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical components including switchgear, transformers, service panels, and regulators.
  • Operate and maintain auxiliary generator equipment including fuel systems.
  • Oil, grease, and adjust machinery; conduct minor repairs.
  • Periodically inspect equipment and controls for proper operation.
  • Use CMMS to manage work orders, maintenance, repairs, and inventory.
  • Maintain consumption and production records; manage inventory and supplies.
  • Maintain housekeeping of tools and power generation equipment.
  • Perform UPS repairs including battery replacement and system installation.
  • Troubleshoot paralleling switchgear and control panels, including PLCs.
  • Assist in oversight or escort for contractors on repair projects as required.

The Opportunity:

CACI is seeking a skilled Senior Generator Technician to join our dynamic team supporting our U.S. Army customer in Springfield, VA (Fort Belvoir area). This role offers a unique chance to travel around the country and the world while supporting critical operations. Power up your career with CACI.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative maintenance, load bank, field diagnosis and repairs on 50kW ~ 2500kW stand alone and paralleling generators and automatic transfer switches in numerous CONUS and OCONUS positions including Hawaii and South Korea.
  • Diagnosis and repair of related electrical components: paralleling switchgear, automatic transfer switches, distribution gear, transformers, service panels, voltage regulators, troubleshooting AC and DC circuits.
  • Operate and maintain auxiliary generator equipment to include fuel systems.
  • Oil, grease, and adjust machinery and equipment, and make minor repairs.
  • Periodically inspect to ensure all equipment and controls are operating properly and are in good condition.
  • Utilize CMMS tools to manage building work orders, maintenance, repairs, and spare part inventory.
  • Maintain consumption and production records.
  • Maintain inventory lists and requisition supplies, materials, and repair parts.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping of tools and power generation equipment.
  • Perform various types and levels of repair on single-phase uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), including identifying overload conditions, battery replacement, and system replacement/installation.
  • Troubleshoot at the paralleling switchgears and control panels to include PLCs.
  • Assist in oversight or escort for contractors on repair/renovation projects, as required.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent along with a power generation certification and ten (10) years' experience in power generation operations; or 12 years of military or civilian equivalent experience in power generation operations.
  • Technical understanding of power generation operation and maintenance, certification from power generation manufacturer preferred.
  • Knowledge of document and report writing.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Knowledge of lockout and tag out procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal).
  • US Citizen.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance will be required to start in this position.
