Job summary

URBN seeks a Senior Data Scientist to develop AI-powered visual experiences, focusing on image and video generation. You will lead generative AI initiatives, build pipelines, collaborate with Creative, Product, and Engineering, and evaluate new models to drive brand-aligned visuals for URBN's digital ecosystem.

You will mentor teams, fine-tune models with techniques like LoRA, ControlNet, and orchestrate multi-model workflows, translating business needs into scalable AI solutions across product

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience in data science, machine learning, or AI engineering.
• 1+ year of hands-on experience with image generation models in a professional context.
• Strong proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, Hugging Face).
• Hands-on experience with image model fine-tuning and conditioning techniques.
• Experience with GenAI workflow orchestration tools for multi-step generation pipelines.
• Experience with multimodal and vision-language models for image understanding.
• Experience with cloud-based AI infrastructure for training and serving models.
• Proven ability to evaluate and adopt new generative AI models and tools.
• Strong visual sensibility and ability to ensure brand consistency in outputs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize image and video generation pipelines at scale.
• Build multi-model generative workflows chaining generation, inpainting, upscaling, style transfer, and conditioning steps.
• Fine-tune image generation models using LoRA, DreamBooth, ControlNet, and related techniques.
• Leverage multimodal models for image understanding, tagging, and quality evaluation.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging video generation models into workflows.
• Develop agentic AI pipelines for end-to-end visual content creation.
• Collaborate with Creative, Product, and Engineering to translate needs into AI solutions.
• Lead evaluation of new generative AI models, tools, and vendors.
• Guide data curation and preparation for fine-tuning and synthetic data.
• Translate research prototypes into production-grade services and cost-optimized APIs.
