Job summary

James Madison University (JMU) is hiring a 1st shift General Maintenance Senior Technician to handle electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and fabrication tasks across campus facilities. This full-time, non-exempt role includes on-call rotation for emergency maintenance and requires independent work, effective communication, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to motivate others.
• Willingness to perform manual labor across trades.
• Valid driver's license required; 19+ and licensed for 24+ months.

Responsibilities

• Electrical duties: install/repair lighting, ballasts, switches and emergency lighting.
• Plumbing duties: troubleshoot/repair/install fixtures and valves; water conditioners testing.
• Carpentry duties: install/repair surfaces, doors, shelving, furniture.
• Fabrication/maintenance of building fixtures; rotate on-call for emergencies.
