Job summary

James Madison University is seeking a General Maintenance Senior Technician for the second shift. The role requires a broad range of building maintenance skills across electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and related trades, with on-call duties for emergencies.

Qualifications

Knowledge of building maintenance crafts and systems including doors, locks, closures and hardware, plaster, paint, carpentry, masonry, floor surface maintenance and repair, furniture repair, plumbing and electrical and HVAC.
Ability to perform apprentice level electrical, carpentry, plumbing repairs and moderately difficult trades/utilities work.
Valid drivers license required; must be at least 19 years old and have held license for 24 months.

Responsibilities

Electrical duties: install/repair/replace lighting fixtures, ballasts, ceiling fans, receptacles, switches, timers and detectors; service emergency lighting.
Plumbing duties: troubleshoot/repair/replace plumbing accessories; valves, faucets, salt/softeners, auto flushers.
Carpentry duties: install/repair surfaces; hinges/knobs; repair dorm furniture; install doors, closets; shelving.
Fabrication and maintenance of building fixtures from wood, plastic and other materials.
Rotate on-call for emergency maintenance during shift.
