Job summary

Essential Utilities, Inc. is seeking a General Counsel for Gas Operations to serve as the primary legal advisor for the company’s gas operations and to partner with leadership to support operational objectives and regulatory compliance across PA DEP, PUC, FERC and other authorities.

The role requires a J.D., Pennsylvania license, and at least 10 years in relevant legal experience, including five years with utilities or highly regulated industries.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree required and licensed to practice in Pennsylvania.
• Experience with utilities, energy, or other highly regulated industries preferred.
• Strong knowledge of state and federal public utility laws, regulations, and processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to leadership on regulatory, contractual, and compliance matters affecting gas operations.
• Lead as the primary advisor for gas distribution, transmission, storage, and related activities.
• Manage outside counsel, litigation matters, and regulatory proceedings.
