Job summary

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks a General Attorney in El Paso, TX, to provide expert legal guidance within the Office of Chief Counsel. You will advise on Customs and Immigration laws, support CBP operations, and participate in litigation both criminal and civil.

A demanding but rewarding role based in a major federal agency. Required are a law degree from an ABA-accredited school, bar admission, and at least five years of substantive legal practice, plus two years of federal service

Qualifications

• Five years of substantive legal experience as a licensed attorney.
• Two years of federal service at GS-0905-14 by closing date.
• Ability to supervise the work of others.

Responsibilities

• Advise CBP operating components on interpretation of relevant laws and agency authority.
• Represent CBP in litigation before DoJ and other forums as needed.
• Review cases for possible appeal and prepare motions and briefs, including oral arguments.
