Job summary

CMI Group in Tempe, AZ seeks a Senior Process Engineer to own gear, spline, and shaping processes across aerospace platforms. You will develop, document, and continually improve manufacturing workflows from raw material to final inspection, driving quality, throughput, and cost performance.

The role requires hands-on shop-floor collaboration, NPI/FAI support, and close work with quality and program teams in a 1st‑article environment. On-site, day shift position in Tempe.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• 5+ years of process engineering experience in gear, spline, and shaping manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of gear geometry, inspection, and AGMA standards.
• AS9100-certified environment experience and Cp/Cpk capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize gear shaping, spline rolling/shaping, hobbing, and related operations.
• Create and maintain routers, work instructions, setup sheets, and CNC programs.
• Select tooling, fixturing, and cutting parameters for gear equipment.
• Troubleshoot tooth form, lead, profile, runout, and surface finish issues on the shop floor.
• Support introduction of new parts (NPI) and first-article inspections (FAI/AS9102).
• Collaborate with quality engineering on non-conformances and MRB dispositions.
• Drive lean initiatives to reduce cycle time and scrap.
• Coordinate with tooling suppliers, program management, and customer engineering.
• Support capital equipment justification and qualification for new gear-cutting tech.
