Job summary

Photon seeks a seasoned Senior GCP Platform Engineer to own and evolve our cloud platform on Google Cloud. You will design, build, and manage GKE infrastructure, implement Terraform-based provisioning, and develop monitoring to keep the system robust and scalable.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in DevOps with at least 2 years on GCP.
• Experience designing and maintaining large-scale GCP infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/GKE).
• Proficient in scripting (Bash, Python, Go).
• Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a seasoned Senior GCP Platform Engineer to join our growing infrastructure team. You will be responsible for taking ownership of complex cloud infrastructure solutions, leading the design, implementation, and management of our platform built on GCP. You will collaborate closely with developers, operations teams, and security professionals to ensure our platform is robust, future-proof, and meets the ever-evolving needs of the business.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and manage our GKE infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, and containerization services (Kubernetes Engine)
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools like Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management
• Develop and implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems using GCP tools to proactively identify and troubleshoot platform issues
• Ensure the platform is highly available, scalable, secure, and compliant with industry best practices
• Stay up-to-date with the latest GCP and Kubernetes offerings and advancements in cloud technologies
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
• Optimize the platform's efficiency and performance, ensuring cost-effectiveness
• Document infrastructure design, operations procedures, and best practices

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 6+ years of experience in DevOps, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years focused on GCP
• Proven experience in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale cloud infrastructure on GCP
• Strong experience with container orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, GKE)
• In-depth knowledge of GCP services including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Networking, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Monitoring, and IAM
• Proficiency with scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Go
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD)
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
• Experience with infrastructure security best practices and security automation on GCP
