Job summary

Babel Street is seeking an experienced Data Warehouse Software Engineer III to lead the core GCP data warehousing and ingestion ecosystem. You will architect high-volume ELT/ETL pipelines into BigQuery, manage Airflow/Cloud Composer, and optimize data services across the GCP stack in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

This role requires strong Python, deep GCP analytics experience, and hands-on Airflow production management.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required for government contract.
• 4-7+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3+ years focused on data warehousing and cloud data pipelines.
• Advanced Python development for data processing, pipeline tooling, and API integrations.
• Airflow Platform Operations: DAG architecture, troubleshooting, environment configuration, platform upgrades.
• Deep experience with Google Cloud analytics stack: BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions/Run.
• DevOps: Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain production ELT/ETL data pipelines into Google BigQuery.
• Manage, monitor, and upgrade Apache Airflow / Cloud Composer; write modular DAGs and custom operators.
• Optimize GCP data services, including partitioning, clustering, slot management, and cost control.
• Develop high-performance Python scripts, API connectors, and automation tools for data integrations.
• Enforce data quality frameworks, monitoring, and automated alerting across pipelines.
• Contribute to architectural reviews and mentor junior engineers on best practices in data warehousing.
