Job summary

Focus Partners seeks an experienced CPA-credentialed professional for a senior Operations role focused on tax and partnership accounting for private funds and funds of funds in New York. You will own complex reporting, review junior staff work, and serve as a key OCIO reporting contact.

Responsibilities include client reporting, tax allocations, and coordination with fund administrators. The role involves mentoring staff and driving process improvements in portfolio reporting.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of fund accounting, investment ops, or tax experience with private funds.
• Active CPA preferred; not required if strong fund administration background.
• Experience interpreting Schedule K-1s and allocations.
• Familiarity with IRR, PME, and waterfall calculations.
• Strong Excel and portfolio accounting systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Manage custodial relationships and P/L reporting for private fund and fund-of-funds vehicles.
• Review Schedule K-1s and tax allocations with basis maintenance across fund structures.
• Coordinate with fund administrators, auditors, and tax preparers on year-end reporting and K-1 delivery timelines.
• Prepare client and management reports including performance, exposure, and tax disclosures.
• Serve as a senior OCIO client servicing contact on portfolio reporting and tax inquiries.
• Review and approve fee invoices and capital call/distribution processing.
• Lead operational due diligence on fund investments and service-provider assessments.
• Mentor junior associates and ensure quality-control before client delivery.
• Identify process improvements for portfolio reporting and tax-workflows.
• Interact with management across levels while maintaining discretion.
