Job summary

TUV SUD America is seeking a senior safety engineer to lead functional safety activities across automotive, rail and machinery projects. You will design, test, and assess safety-critical systems while interpreting ISO standards and collaborating with cross-functional teams, customers, and regulators.

The role is remote with up to 20% national travel and requires 6+ years in functional safety, plus a degree in CS/EE or a related field.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in functional safety for automotive, rail, or machinery.
• Experience designing safety-critical systems per ISO 26262, ISO 61508, ISO 13849.
• Ability to lead teams and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, assess, and test products for conformity with regulations.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation to standards.
• Support sales and marketing with technical expertise including customer presentations.
• Generate test procedures and liaise with safety agencies on design.
