Job summary

FEV Group is seeking an Engineering Assistant (Intern) to support Functional Safety activities for automotive projects under the guidance of experienced Functional Safety Engineers. You will gain hands-on exposure to ISO 26262 processes, safety analyses, requirements management, and systems engineering within the automotive industry.

This internship starts January 2027 and uses a rolling interview process in Fall 2026. Candidates must be U.S.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Automotive Engineering.
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
• Basic understanding of embedded systems or software development.
• Ability to work 15-25 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Support development and maintenance of Functional Safety work products.
• Assist in Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA) activities.
• Support creation and maintenance of safety requirements and traceability matrices.
• Help review customer, supplier, and internal engineering documentation.
• Participate in safety analyses such as FMEA and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
• Support requirements management activities using engineering tools.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project documentation.
• Assist senior engineers in safety reviews and project meetings.
• Conduct research on Functional Safety, ADAS, Automated Driving, and emerging automotive technologies.

The Engineering Assistant (Intern) will support Functional Safety activities for automotive projects under the guidance of experienced Functional Safety Engineers. This position provides hands-on exposure to ISO 26262 processes, safety analyses, requirements management, and systems engineering within the automotive industry.

This internship is scheduled to begin in January 2027. To secure top talent, the selection process will take place in advance of the start date. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply early, as interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis throughout the Fall 2026 recruiting season. Must be US Citizen or Green card holder.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
