Job summary

Blackbird Labs is seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer to own Flycar, our restaurant payments terminal used by thousands of restaurants. You’ll build the software servers and managers rely on during every service, where downtime means a dining room that can’t close checks.

This is a Next.js/TypeScript monorepo powering multiple apps across payments, loyalty, and restaurant operations. You’ll work primarily in Flycar but contribute across the platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years software development with React and TypeScript.
• Experience with real-time data (WebSockets) and unreliable networks.
• Proven track record shipping software with visible impact on payments/fintech.
• Ability to design across the stack and own features end-to-end.
• Strong ownership in a small, fast-moving team.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end development of Flycar - UI, API integration, WebSocket flows, and fallback handling when things go wrong.
• Build interfaces that work reliably across FSR and QSR environments with inconsistent hardware, spotty networks, and dozens of POS configurations.
• Drive frontend architecture decisions — you'll shape how we build, not just what we build.
• Debug real-time payment flows that span our terminal, mobile app, and backend services.
