Job summary

GSD Search is partnering with a financial services client to hire a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to build modern digital experiences across customer enrollment and supporting backend services.

You’ll help shape the customer journey from applications through account creation, signing, and downstream processing, contributing across the stack in a fast-moving environment where you own delivery and improve software practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production systems across frontend and backend.
• Hands-on React, Next.js and TypeScript experience.
• Java backend with Spring as foundation for Kotlin.
• APIs, data models, and SQL databases design.
• Distributed systems concepts and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with event-streaming systems such as Kafka.
• Cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and containerization.
• Observability tools such as Grafana/OpenTelemetry.

GSD Search is partnering with a financial services client to hire a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to build modern digital experiences across customer enrollment and supporting backend services.

Our client is making financial products more accessible through a digital platform in an industry that has traditionally relied on intermediaries and manual processes. You’ll help build the customer journey from application questionnaires and identity verification through account creation, signing, and downstream processing.

This is a hands‑on opportunity to contribute across the stack, influence technical decisions, and see how your work improves the customer experience. The team operates in a fast-moving environment where engineers take ownership of delivery and help improve how software is built.

Responsibilities

• Build production features across frontend applications and backend services, with attention to scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Develop customer-facing applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript, and contribute hands‑on Node.js development.
• Design and implement backend services, APIs, and business logic in a Kotlin/JVM environment.
• Design relational data models and work with SQL databases, including MariaDB and PostgreSQL.
• Integrate third‑party services supporting identity verification, account creation, and other customer workflows.
• Contribute to asynchronous processing, event‑driven systems, and service integrations.
• Own work through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Build observability through logs, metrics, and tracing, and participate in the team’s on‑call rotation.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to make technical decisions and deliver business outcomes.
• Contribute to AI‑assisted and agentic development workflows, reviewing and validating generated code.
• Mentor team members and help improve engineering practices.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building production systems across frontend and backend development.
• Strong hands‑on experience with React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
• Strong Java backend development skills; Java/Spring experience is an acceptable foundation for the team’s Kotlin environment.
• Experience designing APIs, application services, relational data models, and working with SQL databases.
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts, including asynchronous processing.
• Experience with event-streaming systems such as Kafka.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP and containerized environments.
• Strong experience with observability tools such as Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or comparable tools.
• Experience using AI tools in development workflows and familiarity with agentic patterns.
• Strong practical coding ability, sound design judgment, and clear communication.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities, collaborate across teams, and take initiative to solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with consumer-facing or financial technology products.
• Experience in a startup or similarly fast‑changing environment.
• Experience integrating third‑party APIs and services.
• Familiarity with the team’s specific technologies, including Kotlin, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience improving AI‑assisted development workflows using tools such as Claude.
