Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Full-stack Engineer 5 to lead a portfolio of cloud-native projects across distributed microservices and full-stack systems. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product managers, and shape long-term technology direction while delivering high-reliability solutions.

The role emphasizes modern languages (Java/Scala/Python/Go/Node.js/TypeScript), Docker/Kubernetes, and extensive AWS tooling to empower millions of customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
• At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply).
• At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).
• 9+ years of experience coding with multiple languages (Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, Scala) (preferred).
• 5+ years of experience creating and contributing to open source frameworks (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems.
• Mentor other members of the engineering community and stay updated with tech trends.
• Collaborate with product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions for millions of users.
• Work with Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript and various databases and AWS services.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple teams and shape system architecture.
• Drive end-to-end design and implementation of large-scale, cloud-native systems.
• Define platform roadmaps and shared services strategy with architects and product leaders.
