Capital One is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering in Risk Tech. You will lead a portfolio of full-stack initiatives, mentor engineers, and drive cloud-powered solutions for millions of Americans.

Expect collaboration with product managers and hands-on involvement in coding when needed. The role requires a strong background in Java/JavaScript, experience with AWS, Docker/Kubernetes, and a track record of managing diverse engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• 1+ year of cloud computing experience (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• 4+ years of people management experience.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 9+ years of experience in at least one of: JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go (preferred).
• 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure or other cloud services (preferred).
• 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks (preferred).
• 7+ years of people management experience (preferred).
• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices (preferred).
• Experience leveraging interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems.
• Mentor engineers, stay current with tech trends, and occasionally review or write code.
• Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions for users.
• Utilize languages like JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, and Go with various databases and AWS tools.
