Job summary

VenueAI is seeking a strong generalist Full-stack Software Engineer to work directly with the founder on our core product. You will design, build, and ship features end-to-end across the stack, from database to UI, with the chance to impact conversations, scheduling, integrations, and AI-powered messaging used by wedding and events venues.

This early role offers high ownership, the ability to set engineering practices, and a path toward lead or founding engineering positions as the team grows.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience building web applications in Ruby on Rails or a comparable framework.
• Solid understanding of relational databases and data modeling.
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs and messaging or communications services.
• Comfort working across the stack, including front-end work.
• A pragmatic, ship-focused mindset and the ability to make good tradeoffs without a large team around you.
• Strong written communication and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship new features across the full stack, from database to UI.
• Improve and maintain the systems that handle client conversations across SMS, email, and voice.
• Build and maintain integrations with third-party tools venues rely on.
• Work on the AI features at the center of the product, including how the system responds, follows up, and learns from client feedback.
• Investigate and fix bugs and performance issues quickly.
• Write clear, maintainable code and thoughtful tests.
• Take feedback from clients, sales, and success and turn it into product improvements.
• Help shape our engineering practices, tooling, and roadmap as the team grows.
