Job summary

BLN24 is seeking a hands-on Senior Full Stack Developer to support the U.S. Census Bureau, modernizing applications and delivering secure, scalable solutions.

You will design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack systems using Python, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks while migrating to RHEL 10 on bare-metal infrastructure, reducing technical debt, and ensuring compliance in a federal environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 6+ years in software development.
• 6+ years of hands-on full-stack experience.
• Strong Python and JavaScript production skills.
• Experience with Vue.js, React, or Angular and UI/UX basics.
• Linux on-premises/bare-metal administration; RHEL preferred.
• Modernizing legacy apps and reducing technical debt.
• Git-based workflows; GitLab experience preferred.
• Automated testing including unit and browser tests (Playwright preferred).
• Infrastructure/configuration management with Ansible.
• RESTful APIs, SQL databases, PostgreSQL experience.
• Analytical problem solving with clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, modernize, and maintain full-stack apps using Python/JS/HTML/CSS.
• Assess legacy apps and implement modernization and compatibility strategies for RHEL10.
• Administer and troubleshoot apps in Red Hat Linux and on‑prem environments.
• Automate infrastructure/config with Ansible or similar tools.
• Develop and maintain REST APIs, data processing, and PostgreSQL models.
• Build responsive frontend experiences with Vue.js/React/Angular.
• Create automated tests (unit/integration and frontend) with Playwright or equivalents.
• Use GitLab for source control, reviews, and CI/CD workflows.
• Apply secure, reliable, observable, and maintainable coding practices.
• Investigate defects across stack layers and implement durable fixes.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and Census stakeholders to deliver solutions.
• Produce technical documentation and contribute to engineering standards.
