Job summary

IonQ is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer for the Applications Engineering team to turn prototypes into real-world, accessible quantum-powered applications and libraries. You will shape APIs and visualizations that help everyday developers interact with quantum computing, collaborating across engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or related field, or equivalent training/work experience
• 5+ years of experience as a full stack developer, preferably with JavaScript, Python, Golang backends
• 5+ years of experience in REST, GraphQL, or gRPC frameworks for robust data delivery
• Experience building or supporting rich UIs with data visualization tools like Three.js, D3, WebGL
• Track record of shipping applications that solve real business problems
• Familiarity with Agentic AI coding tools and techniques such as skills, docstring generation, code review, and best practices for AI coding

Responsibilities

• Create simple, clear interfaces in collaboration with domain experts by exposing clear API interfaces
• Design API endpoints and intuitive software library interfaces for maintainable tools
• Work with Applications, Developer Tools, and Field Engineering teams to share best practices, feedback on internal tools, and large data visualization support
• Mentor junior developers within the team
