Job summary

AM Specialty Insurance Group is seeking a Software Engineer to own and evolve the full technical stack, reporting to the VP of Engineering. This high-autonomy role offers influence over architecture decisions, tooling, and product direction as the team scales.

You will build a full-stack application, design Shopify integrations, manage AWS infrastructure, and collaborate directly with leadership to translate business needs into technical execution. Health benefits and PTO are provided.

Qualifications

• 2–6 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong full-stack capabilities with modern frontend and reliable backend.
• Experience with AWS services (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, S3).
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• RESTful or event-driven API design with Node.js.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Self-starter who ships with minimal specs.
• Excellent communication with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the full-stack application across frontend, backend, APIs, and infrastructure.
• Design and implement integrations with Shopify and other e-commerce platforms.
• Own AWS infrastructure including deployment pipelines and serverless components.
• Develop data models and workflows for insurance product delivery.
• Collaborate with CEO to translate business priorities into technical work.
• Implement analytics, A/B testing, and conversion optimization tooling.
• Establish CI/CD, code reviews, testing, documentation, and monitoring.
• Make architecture choices to scale the platform from dozens to thousands of merchants.
