Job summary

Skylight is seeking a seasoned full stack engineer to help us build reliable, delightful customer experiences. You design and maintain robust APIs, integrate with third parties, streamline customer workflows, and track down bugs that affect millions of families.

In this role you'll work closely with Customer Success and Engineering to identify and address common pain points and improve internal tools. You will work with Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and React/React Native.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience with our stack (Ruby on Rails, Typescript, React/React Native).
• Proven track record delivering end-to-end backend services.
• Strong communicator across code and human language.
• Experience collaborating with Customer Success and Engineering to address customer pain points.

About the Role:

Our ideal candidate is a seasoned full stack engineer with deep experience in building reliable, delightful customer experiences, and a passion for creating products that make life easier. You know how to design and maintain robust APIs, integrate with third parties, streamline a customer workflow, and track down a pernicious bug.

In this role you'll work closely with both Customer Success and Engineering to identify and address common customer pain points, as well as improve the internal tools and systems used by our CS team. We're looking for someone who loves finding simple, straightforward technical solutions to complex problems.

Experience with our stack (Ruby on Rails, Typescript, React/React Native) is important, and our bottom-line requirements are simple: a strong engineering foundation, a desire to meaningfully improve core systems, and a commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes for our customers.

• 6+ years of experience with our stack (Ruby on Rails, Typescript, React/React Native)
• You're excited to be part of a self-motivated and capable team that prides itself on having a massive impact per employee
• You have a track record of implementing, testing, and maintaining reliable backend services, as well as owning projects end to end
• You're passionate about improving the customer experience in ways big and small, whether that's by fixing a bug or overhauling an entire flow
• You're a first-rate communicator in both code and human language, contributing to deep technical discussions across team and tech stack boundaries
• You work closely with non-technical stakeholders to design and build features that make customers' eyes light up and keep our bootstrapped business humming
• You're great at figuring out how systems can work better and love having the autonomy to leave things better than you found them

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $180K-200K per year. This range reflects the compensation Skylight reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, which may include experience, qualifications, skills, education, geographic location, and internal equity. Skylight also offers benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and paid time off.
