Job summary

NMI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Full-Stack) to join the Fee Navigator team, part of our Account Management & Signup Tools value stream. You will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, delivering secure software that automates merchant statement analysis and proposal generation.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience with PHP, MySQL, Git, CI/CD, and a strong OOP background, thriving in a remote-first culture powered by analytics and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience developing complex applications
• Fluency in PHP and modern development practices
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL (schema design, query optimization)
• Comfort with large, established codebases and navigating systems
• Familiarity with secure coding principles
• Experience with Git and CI/CD workflows
• Experience across the full SDLC
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Awareness of AI-assisted development tools and their judicious use

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and enhance features within FeeNavigator using PHP/Laravel and Vue
• Develop efficient database queries and optimize MySQL performance
• Own the quality of your work end-to-end with unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Refactor complex areas to improve maintainability in a large codebase
• Document critical business logic, workflows, and architectural decisions
• Collaborate with Product Managers to refine requirements and contribute to design
• Participate in code reviews to uphold engineering standards
• Work with SRE to ensure observability, resilience, and production readiness
• Diagnose incidents and performance bottlenecks with cross-functional teams
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and tooling
