Job summary

Artos in San Francisco is seeking a skilled software engineer to join a small, highly technical team building the Artos platform. You’ll own features end-to-end across the stack, from React and TypeScript UI to backend services and AI-powered workflows.

You will collaborate with product, design, and customer-facing teams to solve real customer problems, shape architecture, and move quickly in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production web applications.
• Strong experience with React, TypeScript, and modern frontend development, plus backend services and APIs using Python/Node.js.
• Solid understanding of architecture, API design, databases, testing, and reliable production systems.
• Experience building complex, data-intensive product experiences and integrating frontend with backend services.
• Strong product judgment and ability to simplify complex workflows into intuitive software.
• Comfortable owning problems across the stack and making sound technical decisions without perfect specs.

Responsibilities

• Own and ship product features end-to-end from React/TypeScript UI through backend services and data models.
• Design intuitive experiences for complex document-heavy workflows while ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Develop AI-native product experiences to generate, review, validate, and interact with AI-generated content.
• Collaborate with product, design, AI, and customer-facing teams to translate real problems into high-quality software.
• Make pragmatic architectural decisions and improve the platform as it scales from concept to production.
• Move quickly in a startup environment where requirements evolve and engineers shape what should be built.
