Job summary

Manulife/John Hancock in Boston is seeking a software engineer to join our engineering-first culture. You will own design, implementation, deployment, observability, and reliability of cloud-native applications, using .NET, React, Java, and modern Azure-based platforms.

You will mentor agile squads, collaborate with Product Owners and designers, and apply AI-assisted tools to improve productivity while ensuring security and governance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
• Proficiency in React, C# and/or Java.
• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of front-end and back-end development principles.
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot.

Responsibilities

• Own technical solution design, implementation, deployment, observability, reliability, and ongoing improvement of cloud-native applications.
• Work with the latest tech stack including .NET, React, Java, JavaScript on Azure Kubernetes Services and DevOps/GitOps.
• Coach and mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Prototype and build new functionality to deliver on key product objectives with strong architectural design.
