Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Software Engineer to design, implement, and maintain high-quality software solutions for a new platform using a modern stack. This role emphasizes rapid learning of new languages, domains (data science, psychometrics), and processes (LLM codegen, AI development).

The ideal candidate will take high-level ownership of functionality, work with customers, and apply best practices for performance, security, and verifiability while leveraging AWS in cloud-based applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent tech discipline.
• 3–5 years of full-stack software development experience.
• Experience with AWS-hosted applications and cloud-based web apps.
• Experience with GitHub and CI/CD practices.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and domains (R, data science, agentic AI).
• Familiarity with Agile environments and timely delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support a new web application stack.
• Refine LLM-codegen processes to balance agility and quality.
• Develop and leverage agent-driven AI architectures.
• Work closely with customers and adapt tools to their needs.
• Develop psychometrics and data science-focused tools in R.
• Operate, extend and create cloud-based solutions in AWS.
• Develop and maintain code with best practices for maintainability, performance, security.
• Learn new processes, tools, and business domains.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to deliver robust software.
