Hidden Jobs is seeking a senior full-stack engineer to help build brand-new consumer products from scratch on an Early Bets initiative team. The role focuses on defining technical direction in ambiguous problem spaces and partnering closely with Product to refine requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of professional software engineering across frontend and backend.
• Strong frontend skills with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js.
• Backend experience with Python and Django, REST APIs, data modeling.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) for full-stack delivery.
• Solid SDLC practices including testing, code review, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product and Design to shape and ship evolving user experiences across the full stack.
• Drive frontend and backend architecture decisions for scalability and performance.
• Build complex client-side systems using React, TypeScript, and Next.js with SSR and data fetching.
• Design and deliver backend services and APIs with Python and Django emphasizing security.
• Set engineering standards, tooling, testing strategy, and CI/CD practices.
• Mentor teammates across frontend and backend to raise code quality and architecture.
• Identify risks early, perform tradeoffs, and lead cross-team initiatives aligned to product strategy.
• Instrument stacks with metrics and observability to inform decisions.

Role overview

A senior full-stack engineer is needed to help build brand-new consumer products from scratch on an Early Bets initiative team. The work centers on defining technical direction in ambiguous problem spaces and partnering closely with Product to refine requirements. Candidates who thrive on 0-to-1 product development and have a track record of designing scalable, end-to-end architectures will fit well. The role is remote within the United States, with an expectation of two days per week on-site for candidates located near the company's headquarters.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product and Design partners to shape, ship, and continuously evolve user experiences across the full stack.
• Drive frontend and backend architecture decisions, balancing scalability, performance, accessibility, and long-term maintainability.
• Build complex client-side systems using React, TypeScript, and Next.js, covering server-side rendering, routing, data fetching, and performance tuning.
• Design and deliver reliable backend services and APIs with Python and Django, emphasizing security, reliability, and scale.
• Set and uphold engineering standards spanning patterns, tooling, testing strategy, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Mentor teammates across both frontend and backend disciplines, raising the bar on code quality and architectural thinking.
• Identify technical risks early, propose tradeoff analyses, and lead cross-team initiatives that align the stack with product strategy.
• Instrument the stack with metrics and observability to inform product and engineering decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Four or more years of professional software engineering experience with meaningful depth across both frontend and backend.
• Strong proficiency in modern frontend development, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
• Hands-on backend experience with Python and Django, including REST API design, data modeling, and service architecture.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure in the context of full-stack delivery.
• Solid grasp of software engineering best practices across the SDLC, including testing, code review, and operational excellence.

Nice to have

• Background in early-stage product engineering, research and development, or building systems designed for rapid scale.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot, Cursor, or other LLM-based coding assistants.

Benefits and work setup

• Base salary range of $195,821 to $279,825, plus equity and benefits.
• Remote-first within the US, with a hybrid expectation of two in-office days per week for those near headquarters.
• Full-time position with salary ranges determined by role, level, and location.
