Job summary

JLA Resourcing Ltd is seeking a senior full‑stack engineer to join a fast‑growing VC‑backed startup building the operating system behind high‑skilled US immigration. You will be close to the product, users and the decisions that shape the platform.

The role spans frontend and backend architecture, API design, data models, and end‑to‑end delivery. You will own significant components and collaborate with product, customers and operators in a hybrid San Francisco or New York setup.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in full‑stack product engineering with end‑to‑end delivery.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in CS or related field.
• Strong API, database and systems‑design fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Lead improvements across frontend and backend architecture.
• Rebuild the customer facing portal and design the APIs behind it.
• Create robust task orchestration for multi‑step workflows.
• Improve backend services, event pipelines, and CI/CD.
• Design data models, schemas, migrations and access controls.
• Ship polished React interfaces and triage product issues.

The Opportunity

This is not a role for someone who wants to own one service and hand the rest to another team. You will be close to the product, the users and the decisions that shape both.

A fast-growing, VC-backed start-up is building the operating system behind high-skilled US immigration. Following $10M in revenue last year, the business is targeting significant growth and is expanding a deliberately small engineering team.

The challenge is broad: simplify complex legal workflows, rebuild the customer portal and strengthen the architecture beneath a product used by customers and internal specialists every day.

The Role

• Lead improvements across frontend and backend architecture, with a backend lean.
• Rebuild the customer-facing portal and design the APIs behind it.
• Create robust task orchestration for multi-step drafting, review and filing workflows.
• Improve backend services, event pipelines, scheduled jobs and CI/CD.
• Design clear data models, schemas, migrations and access controls.
• Ship polished React interfaces and triage issues across the entire product.
• Work directly with product, customers and operational users to understand what should be built.

The Person

• Deep TypeScript and React expertise, alongside credible backend engineering experience.
• Usually 5+ years in full stack product engineering, with evidence of complete end-to-end delivery.
• Strong API, relational database and systems-design fundamentals.
• Comfortable with Python, Node, Django, FastAPI or an equivalent backend environment.
• Thrives in a small start-up where ambiguity, autonomy and user contact are part of the job.
• Can explain technical trade-offs to non-technical colleagues and make sensible decisions independently.
• Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in computer science or a related discipline.
• Experience as an early or founding engineer, leading others or contributing to open source would be valuable.

• $200,000-$250,000 base salary, with flexibility to $300,000 for an exceptional candidate.
