Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building full stack web apps in startups, agencies, or product teams.
• Expert backend proficiency with 3+ years in high-volume Shopify environments.
• Deep Shopify backend experience with custom Shopify apps, platform extensions (Checkout, Admin UI), and Functions.
• Strong backend skills with Node.js, serverless functions, or similar; TypeScript or Rust is a bonus.
• Experience architecting REST or GraphQL APIs and integrating with external systems.
• Shopify frontend competency including theme development (Liquid) and Storefront APIs; basic frontend JS and CSS.

Role Purpose

SLTWTR is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to implement robust, scalable backend solutions, with a strong focus on extensive Shopify development and integration. This role primarily focuses on complex system logic, API design, and backend services, while maintaining the ability to contribute to the frontend UI as needed within a small, efficient team.

You’ll collaborate closely with Product Owners, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver high-quality eCommerce experiences and internal tools that support scale, reusability, and maintainability.

Core Responsibilities

This seat holds accountability for:

• Full Stack Feature Delivery: Architect and implement end-to-end features, heavily focused on the **system logic, backend architecture, and API integration**. Capable of basic frontend contribution to complete features.
• Shopify App & System Architecture: Design, build, and maintain **custom Shopify applications, platform extensions (including Checkout and Admin UI Extensions), and Functions** to support complex, scalable business logic.
• Component & System Architecture: Build reusable frontend components and backend services that support modular builds and consistent patterns across clients.
• Shopify Integration: Leverage Shopify's theme architecture, Liquid, metafields, and APIs in conjunction with custom logic to meet complex client needs.
• API & Third-Party Integration: Design and connect to REST/GraphQL APIs, custom endpoints, and third-party services with a focus on high reliability and data integrity.
• Shopify Theme & Data Integration: Expertly leverage Shopify's theme architecture (Liquid, metafields, and Storefront/Admin APIs) in conjunction with custom backend logic to meet complex client needs.

  • Strong Backend Skills: Expert-level proficiency in Node.js, serverless functions, or similar. Experience with modern backend languages like TypeScript or Rust is a great bonus.Backend Expertise: Expert proficiency required in Node.js, serverless functions, or equivalent technologies, including experience with building custom Shopify apps.
