Heat Waves is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our remote-first team. This role will contribute to an innovative and highly confidential track of work for one of our largest clients. Agency experience is a big plus. Note: this role is a 5 month contract to start with the potential to extend and/or convert to full-time.

Role Overview

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer you will leverage both back-end and front-end programming languages, frameworks, and third-party libraries to develop shippable, scalable solutions for an extremely discerning audience. You will be expected to immediately jump into an active dev environment and take autonomous ownership of discrete tasks. You should be comfortable adapting to Agile development methodologies, participating in code reviews, and peer coding sessions as needed. The right candidate will be able to make senior-level contributions to a NestJS REST API as well as a NextJS frontend.

Responsibilities:

• Design,develop, and maintain backend features and services while also contributing to the front end
• Own features end-to-end; from updating database schemas and building new services to refining UI with Design and QA
• Actively participate to all phases of the development lifecycle
• Work closely with engineering and creative teams to ensure effective communication and understanding of project requirements
• Collaborate with designers to translate designs in figma to feasible, technically viable features
• Follow the Agile/Scrum model of work management by playing an active role in meetings with your team
• Contribute to and debug the TypeScript NextJS + Chakra UI codebase on the frontend
• Contribute to and debug the TypeScript NestJS + Prisma + Postgres codebase on the backend

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience meaningfully contributing to product development on a cross-functional team, not including time spent as an intern or in bootcamps
• 5+ years of architecting and maintaining REST APIs
• 3+ of agency or consulting experience
• Experience with Prisma and Postgres
• Experience with NestJS
• 3+ years working with with UI frameworks
• Experience in writing Integration tests
• Experience in writing E2E tests
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
