Job summary

The New York Times is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer for the Conversion team in New York. You will build frontend features with React/TypeScript and backend services in Node.js and Go on AWS, from idea to production.

Collaborating with design, data, and product partners, you’ll optimize subscription conversion and payments, tackle experiments, and help scale our digital and print offerings while reporting to the Subscription Conversion Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of full-time software engineering experience building and supporting user-facing features in large-scale web applications using TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks such as React.
  • Experience in version control tools (Git).
  • Familiarity with server-side web development (Node.js, Go) or a clear interest in learning it.
  • Experience collaborating with designers, product managers, and other engineers to ship features.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute directly to our mission of reaching 15+ million paid subscriptions by 2027
  • Build the conversion funnel for NYT customers, working across NYT platforms and services
  • Improve the payment workflows for digital and print subscriptions
  • Work with design, data, marketing and other collaborators to have a measurable impact on the NYT's business
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews and A/B test brainstorms
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for the systems you help build.
  • Partner with Project, Product, Design and Engineering Management to build and release projects
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world
