Scale AI in Seattle is seeking a Senior Frontier Agent Engineer (Applied AI) to bridge cutting-edge research and production. You will design, evaluate, and deploy intelligent systems that combine frontier models with structured knowledge, retrieval, and enterprise software, working directly with enterprise customers.

This role spans across designing multi-agent systems, memory and retrieval pipelines, and rigorous evaluation frameworks, with emphasis on reliability, observability, and safety;

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering, ML, or applied AI experience.
• Experience building production AI systems using LLMs.
• Experience with modern AI tooling (OpenAI, Claude, MCP, vector stores).
• Strong understanding of ML fundamentals and language models.
• Excellent communication with enterprise customers.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy production AI agents using LLMs and retrieval.
• Architect intelligent systems combining LLMs, knowledge, and software.
• Engineer customer intelligence layers, memory systems, and knowledge representations.
• Develop multi-agent systems coordinating reasoning, planning, tool use.
• Evaluate new models and prompting techniques in production.
• Own the full experimentation lifecycle from hypothesis to rollout.
• Design evaluation frameworks with offline benchmarks, online experiments, datasets.
• Collaborate with infra to deploy secure production AI systems.
