Job summary

Grainger is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Frontend heavy) to join the Product Matching team in a hybrid role. You will design, develop, and deliver scalable frontend features with React, Next.js and TypeScript, while contributing to backend services with Java Spring Boot and Kafka.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with product and data teams, and apply CI/CD practices to deliver robust software that supports critical business workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required.
• 3+ years of experience designing, building, and deploying scalable software.
• Understanding of distributed system design.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Experience building modern web apps using React, TypeScript, and modern frontend practices.
• Experience developing backend services and APIs with Java Spring Boot or similar.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems.
• Familiar with AI-powered development tools like GitHub Copilot or similar.

Responsibilities

• Build frontend and backend features that are scalable and maintainable.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver customer-focused solutions.
• Lead design and implementation of end-to-end features spanning UI, APIs, tests, and deployment.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
• Implement CI/CD and ensure reliable production systems.
