Job description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time-consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have campuses in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. But you have a choice in where and how you work; we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role

This year, the Content Management & Distribution group is on a mission to inspire everyone to visually communicate and stay organized. Our group is doubling down on several critical initiatives to help us achieve our company-level strategy of driving teams and collaboration in Canva. We want to make Canva the tool that every team, big and small, wants to use to collaborate and communicate every day — from kindergarten to the workplace.

We have formed a new team to help teams that use Canva to organize their designs as effectively as possible while staying in control of exactly who has access to them. This means building rich features into the Canva homepage and for use in-context within the editor. We work closely with teams across the company, including search, education, growth, and platform. The features our team builds are core to the daily use of our over 170 million users, so performance and reliability are at the forefront of everything we do.

Currently, you will be focused on:

  1. Building out experiences for supporting sharing and permissions across the whole Canva product, including our flagship design experience, content management, and brand.
  2. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and designing scalable solutions.
  3. Helping the team to build and deliver great user experiences.
  4. Leading continuous improvement efforts within your team.
  5. Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to the team’s domain as they arise, and participating in the team’s on-call rotation.
  6. Staying updated on industry trends and best practices to innovate and improve the domain owned by the team.
What we're looking for
  • You have 5+ years of experience working with core frameworks in our frontend stack — JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, and TypeScript.
  • You are firmly grounded in computer science and engineering fundamentals, including concurrency, multithreading, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns.
  • You have a passion for great UX, storytelling, and collaboration.
  • You possess cross-browser knowledge, as we often drive changes that may have implications across many browsers, devices, and modalities.
  • You are familiar with building experiences based on a design system.
  • You have experience building and shipping impactful products and/or changes.
  • You consider performance in everything you do, especially related to a great product experience.
What's in it for you?

Achieving our ambitious goals motivates us to work hard — and we do — but you'll also experience moments of magic, connectivity, and fun throughout life at Canva. We offer a range of benefits to support your success both inside and outside of work.

Here’s a taste of what's on offer:

  • Equity packages — we want our success to be yours too.
  • Inclusive parental leave policy supporting all parents and carers.
  • An annual Vibe & Thrive allowance to support your wellbeing, social connection, office setup, and more.
  • Flexible leave options that empower you to recharge and support your personal needs.
