Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Athena Engine Front End in New York, NY. You will own features end-to-end, shaping designs, building, testing, and shipping through release pipelines, while operating what you ship in production.

You will route millions of queries daily and ensure safe, fast submission paths even as engines evolve. The role emphasizes developing reliable distributed systems, mentoring junior engineers, and driving design decisions with ownership and bias for

Qualifications

5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Responsibilities

Own features and services end to end: shape designs, build, test, ship through our release pipelines, and operate what you ship in production.
Route millions of queries a day across engine generations without customers noticing.
Prove a new engine build is safe before it takes production traffic.
Keep the submission path fast and reliable while the engine underneath it changes.
