Job summary

Citi is seeking a Senior Front End Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of complex web applications within the AI Automation Forward Deployed Engineering team, part of Consumer Operations Technology.

In this role you will drive critical engineering initiatives, shape architectural standards, and mentor the next generation of front-end developers at the scale of a global financial institution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience leading UI design initiatives across multiple concurrent workstreams.
• Familiarity with enterprise architecture and large-scale infrastructure interaction.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of responsive, accessible web apps using Angular and modern UI technologies.
• Collaborate with AI and backend teams to build intuitive interfaces for complex workflows.
• Set technical direction, establish best practices, and enforce robust testing (Jasmine, Karma, Cypress).
• Work with DevOps and platform teams to deploy UI apps in Docker/Kubernetes and cloud environments.
• Design interfaces to simplify complex financial data and workflows while ensuring security compliance.

Position Overview

Citi is looking for a Senior Front End Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of complex application systems within the AI Automation Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team, part of Consumer Operations Technology. In this role, you will drive critical engineering initiatives, shape architectural standards, and mentor the next generation of engineering talent — all at the scale and reach that only a global financial institution can offer. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of highly responsive, accessible, and scalable web applications using Angular (latest versions) and modern UI technologies.
• Collaborate with AI and backend teams to build intuitive user interfaces for intelligent operations solutions, including AI-assisted platforms, interactive chatbots, and complex workflow automation dashboards.
• Set credible technical direction for front-end engineering, establishing best practices, coding standards, and robust testing frameworks (e.g., Jasmine, Karma, Cypress).
• Work closely with DevOps and platform teams to deploy UI applications within containerized (Docker/Kubernetes) and cloud-native environments.
• Design interfaces that simplify complex financial data, transactions, and workflows, ensuring compliance with financial industry standards and security protocols.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Core UI Tech: Mastery of Angular (6+), TypeScript, RxJS, NgRx (or other state management libraries), HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and modern build tools (Webpack, Angular CLI).
• UI/UX & Performance: Deep understanding of web performance optimization, lazy loading, responsive design, and web accessibility standards (WCAG).
• Micro-Frontends: Experience with micro-frontend architecture and integrating APIs (RESTful, WebSockets, GraphQL).
• Containerization & Cloud: Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and deploying UI applications on cloud platforms.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead UI design initiatives and collaborate effectively with cross-functional product and AI teams.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent professional experience. Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, preferred.
• Experience operating as a technical lead across multiple concurrent engineering workstreams.
• Familiarity with enterprise architecture principles and how large-scale infrastructure and application layers interact.

• Primary Location Full Time Salary Range: $125,760.00 - $188,640.00
