Job summary

VIAVI Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced FPGA Engineer to design and implement advanced FPGA solutions for new products in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment. You will develop Verilog/SystemVerilog code, perform rapid verification, and drive high-speed interfaces across PCIe and other protocols.

You will mentor juniors and help shape the technical roadmap. The role requires 5+ years of FPGA experience, strong VHDL/Verilog skills, and proficiency with Vivado or Quartus Prime,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of FPGA design and development experience for commercial products.
  • Expertise in VHDL and/or Verilog for complex digital design.
  • Strong proficiency with FPGA development tools (e.g., AMD Vivado, Intel Quartus Prime).
  • Extensive experience with simulation and verification methodologies (e.g., UVM, SystemVerilog a plus).
  • Solid understanding of high-speed digital design principles, signal integrity, and timing closure.
  • Experience with various communication protocols (e.g., PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, SPI, I2C).
  • Proficiency in using lab equipment for hardware debug and validation.
  • Familiarity with embedded processors (e.g., ARM, MicroBlaze, Nios II) within FPGAs is highly desirable.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Tcl) for automation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implementation of FPGA solutions for new product development.

  • Design and implement test benches and verification methodologies for FPGA designs.
  • Collaborate with software, firmware, and system engineers to integrate FPGA designs into larger system architectures.
  • Conduct hardware debugging and validation.
  • Generate detailed design documentation, including specifications, block diagrams, and test plans.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to design standards.
  • Stay abreast of new FPGA technologies, tools, and industry trends to recommend improvements and innovations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall technical growth of the team.

Job Posting Pay Range

90,846 to 168,714
