Job summary

L3Harris Airborne Solutions in Palm Bay, FL seeks a Senior FPGA Engineer to lead firmware design for flight avionics. You will develop, simulate, and integrate firmware targeting FPGA platforms, guiding a team of engineers through coding, simulation, and card-level integration.

The role requires strong VHDL experience, system-level thinking, and the ability to obtain a US government security clearance. You will report to the ELT in Palm Bay and contribute to mission-critical programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 6+ years of experience; graduate degree preferred with 4+ years.
• In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of related experience may be considered.
• Experience with FPGA design, VHDL, and hardware verification is required.

Responsibilities

• Decompose system requirements into FPGA specifications and derive block diagrams.
• Architect FPGA solutions and implement on FPGA platforms.
• Map FPGA simulations to system-level requirements and capabilities.
• Review specifications and generate behavior diagrams and design concepts.
• Enforce rigorous firmware development processes across FPGA designs.
• Lead teams of engineers delivering FPGA design solutions.
• Ensure FPGA simulations verify performance and integrate/test on circuit cards.
• Lead full life cycle development and integration of VHDL into multiple FPGA families.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate cross-functional reviews.
• Prepare and support proposal efforts and detailed system requirements.
• Plan and execute project plans, design reviews, and production documentation.
• Support qualification and production testing and troubleshooting.
• Assist customers with fielded product use and issues.
• Maintain version control discipline (Subversion, Git).
• Ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance.
